Its deployment was off the rear of the ship, while the ship was being dynamically positioned to achieve a desired position and trajectory for the sled inside an underwater acoisutic navigation net.
This camera sled was used in the preliminary successful search of the luxury vessel TITANIC (found through the discovery of one of its boilers) and the WWII german battleship BISMARCK (found through live video images of one of its smaller anti-aircraft gun platforms).
