Short Bio

Dr. Kelly has worked in robotics and automation for approximately 15 years in both industrial and academic settings. Some of the projects to which he has contributed include:
  • a merchandizing robot for assisting and entertaining shoppers
  • several outdoor autonomous vehicles for terrestrial and space uses
  • projects to develop laser rangefinder hardware
  • a project to develop high speed stereo vision software
  • a project to develop inertial and satellite navigation systems for autonomous vehicles
  • a telerobot for the Space Shuttle
  • several others for nuclear power plants
  • a flexible manufacturing workcell for various cut-to-order sheet stock industries
