I am a Ph.D. student for computer science at the University of Freiburg in the research lab for Autonomous Intelligent Systems of Prof. Dr. Wolfram Burgard. My areas of interest lie in artificial intelligence and mobile robots.

I made my masters 1999 at the University of Bonn working since 1996 in the research lab for Autonomous Mobile Systems. In 1997 we deployed Rhino as the first interactive mobile tour-guide robot in the Deutsches Museum Bonn in Germany. During its deployment period of six days Rhino was extremely successful and guided thousands of visitors through the crowded museum. In 1998 I went to Washington, DC, to install the mobile robot Minerva for a period of thirteen days in the Smithsonian Museum of American History.

My current research interrests are 3D-maps (see here or here) created by a mobile platform equipped with a laser scanner.
