The Lunar Rover Initiative is commited to finding water at the Lunar South Pole. The In Situ Resource Utilazation(ISRU) payload is an active part of Scarab and contains the instruments to both extract and analyze the lunar terrain.


The other key area in the quest to find water is being able to rove around the difficult polar regions of the moon autonomously. This area of Scarab is being developed with the Human Robotics Systems(HRS) area.
